I'm sure Phil is aware of that and is already hacking on PyQt4 to adapt
it to Qt4.2.0. However that takes time and Qt4.2.0 Opensource is just a
day old.

I doubt that current PyQt4 snapshots work with Qt4.2.0, there was a post
some time ago on this list that the buildsystem of PyQt4 needs some
changes and you won't get the new classes anyway...

Compiling under Windows works the same way as under Linux, all you have
to do first is install mingw. However it takes ages.
