[PyKDE] '[QT_INSTALL_LIBS]' is not defined.

I am attempting to build sip-4.3.2 with Qt-4.1.0 (open source), of FreeBSD
5.4. I am seeing this message as soon as I attempt to configure sip:

  rob:rob/build/sip-4.3.2} python configure.py

  Error: /usr/local/Trolltech/Qt-4.1.0/mkspecs/default/qmake.conf: macro
  '[QT_INSTALL_LIBS]' is not defined.

This appears to be the same problem that Alistair Culf described in an
email dated July 28 of this year. Sebas implies that version 4 of sip might
solve the problem. (Both messages are included below.) In fact, the "PyQt
- Roadmap" web page (http://www.riverbankcomputing.co.uk/pyqt/roadmap.php)
also implies this.

What is the situation? Can sip 4.3.2 be built with Qt 4.1.0? If so, how?

Could this be a problem with Qt 4? My installation of Qt uses
"mkspecs/freebsd-g++/qmake.conf" which contains the symbol above.
(Actually, it appears in the qmake.conf files for many platforms.) According
to the Qt documentation for qmake, this is valid syntax. However, it
doesn't seem to be defined. If this is a Qt problem, maybe I should nag
Trolltech.

Any information would be appreciated. Thank you.

Rob.

Subject: [PyKDE] sip configure problem
Message-ID: <BAY102-F36381F8EDC66260D204C47EDCF0 at phx.gbl>

Hi, I'm trying to install sip 4.2.1 and pyQt 3.14.1on my mac running OSX
10.3.9 I've installed Qt sucessfully and have run the demos. However, when
I try to configure sip I get the following error

Error: /usr/local/Trolltech/Qt-4.0.0/mkspecs/default/qmake.conf: macro
'[QT_INSTALL_HEADERS]' is not defined.

Hving trawled through this list I can't find anyone else who has had this
problem. Any ideas what I am missing here?

Thanks in advance, Alistair.

You'll need Qt3. There is no Qt4 support for pyqt yet. (And it'll probably
change its name to something like pyqt4 ...

Beware of bugs in the above code; I have only proved it correct, not tried it.
