Things is:

It fails on Ubuntu 8.04, KUbuntu 9.04 and Ubuntu 9.04 with Qt 4.5.2.

But it works on Mac OS X with Qt 4.6.0-beta and XPSP3 with Qt 4.3.3. I
believe its a Qt bug.
